The information on concessions and suites is complete hearsay and I don't have anything else to back it up. But the final say on scheduling is definitely a part of the deal and would make it difficult on an NBA team.

 

I can only think of two arenas that are home to both the NBA and college. (Marquette and Memphis)

NKY fans can go the same distance to see the Pacers. How mnay times a year do people make that trip? I went this year and saw the Thunder and I'm going back to see the Heat.

That's all fine and dandy. But would you go to 35 games a year? Because that's what it would take for an NBA team to survive in L'ville -- you and a lot of other people traveling 100 miles regularly to support an NBA team.

No, but I'm not a fan of the NBA, but alot of that also has to do with the lack of a team near here. I think the # of "NBA fans" would grow drastically if people actually had a team within their region/state to cheer for.

No chance an NBA team could survive in Louisville. Not enough fan support or sponorship dollars to go around.

Just to clarify: I think that had John Y not taken the buyout, Louisville probably would still have a team because of sustained tradition. Starting fresh now, however, in a struggling economy and given exorbitant NBA ticket costs, would be a recipe for failure.
