The Orlando Magic have engaged the Washington Wizards in an ongoing trade dialog centered around Wizards shooting guard Gilbert Arenas, Orlando Pinstriped Post has learned. What Orlando would send Washington in return for the three-time All-Star is less clear, but the proposed deal likely includes shooting guard Vince Carter, according to a source. Wizards big man Andray Blatche, Magic forward Rashard Lewis, and Magic center Daniel Orton could also be involved. Both teams have a mutual understanding of what the trade might include, the source says, and it’s unclear what factors are holding up the trade. What is clear around the league, however, is that Magic President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith has his eye on Arenas. If Orlando is to make a major trade this season, Arenas will likely be the target.

IMO if the Wizards could pull this off acquiring Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and Orton while giving up Arenas and Blatche it would be a steal for the Wizards...You can toss Orton out the window for now but he could be good in the future, but getting rid of Arenas who has team chemistry issues and bringing in two more scorers for Wall would be huge...Andray Blatche is starting to come into his own but IMO this improves the Wizards tremendously and hurts the chemistry of the Magic...I'd love to see it happen for John Wall's sake, I believe the Wizards easily make the playoffs with this trade...

Vince Carter is the most overrated player of the last 15 years. I don't wish that on John Wall at all.

I think it would make the Magic pretty tough....Nelson, Arenas, Richardson/Bass, Blatche, & Howard would be a pretty potent offense. I do not think it would be a good move for the Wizards, but that's just me.

I would guess he would almost refuse a trade from a frontrunner to team rebuilding.

I agree if Agent Zero is healthy that is an upgrade for Orlando.

For John Wall's sake, I'd much prefer Arenas to Carter. And I don't see Orton ever accomplishing much in the NBA. Hard to tell w/ Lewis.

 

As for Blatche, the guy has good size & talent but seems content to keep his 7'0 frame on the perimeter. Always hated that in a big man.

Almost 17 and 8 a game this season...Dude's only 24. Seems like the switch has been flipped to me. JMO.

Oh, don't get me wrong. He puts up good numbers & is a good player. But I think if he were to utilize his size advantage, those numbers could be more in the 21 & 12 range. I've watched all but one of the Wizards' games this season, and that's what I've come away with in regards to Blatche. He's good, but could be great.

Blatche is definitely becoming a very good young combo and would complement Dwight Howard very well and Arenas just dropped 31 against Orlando a few nights ago so I believe he is getting back to his old self...It would be an interesting trade that's for sure...

I think we're pretty much in agreement. I think he's getting there...He's finally starting to adjust to his size IMO. If he realized how big of a mismatch he could create if he played on the block and occasionally came out on the perimeter, instead of vice versa, he'd be darn near unstoppable IMO. I see him as a slightly bigger, more skilled Rashard Lewis.
