December 8, 201015 yr I'm trying to lose 15 by the start of next semester, so like right around January 10th. Keep at it, any advice for me on the P90x thread?
December 8, 201015 yr Author Keep at it, any advice for me on the P90x thread? I had some buddy's that did it for the 90 days and saw GREAT results. They did it with a partner(brothers) and said that really helped. I do agree having a workout partner helps for days that you don't want to go. I'd say the most important thing is it as often as you can that way on days that you can't atleast you're somewhat ahead of the game. My biggest focus right now is dieting and working on my lower body. I've never done much of either before but think both will be rather beneficial.
December 8, 201015 yr My Doc told me no more sugar (COOKIES) (BROWNIES), I have lost six pounds and he was amazed..."Going thru the Thanksgiving season, this is really good". I eat a nice breakfast/lunch/supper, and no snacks. This has to be a lifetime decision, I tried the protein shakes and they are OK for a while but I didn't want them for my whole life. Grapes/apples/non sweeten cereals. Turkey on toast for lunch. My whole family is thinking of joining me in this change of eating habit. Blood Sugar was over 250, should be around 100. No more sweet tea, this is a biggie for me I had it in my bottle as a baby. Level is now at 140. I jog when I can and will lift weights with my kid, if I can find him.
December 9, 201015 yr Author Good luck Larry that would be tough being forced into the changes. That's kind of why I'm trying to maintain my health the older I get. I'm still 4 years from 30 but I come from a family with a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes etc. I figure it's in my best interest to just keep at it the older I get. My grandpa on my moms side had his first heart attack in his early thirty's and my grandpa on my dads side was gone by the time my dad was 16. I guess in a way I recognize that if I don't handle this now, at some point a doctor will be telling me to change my lifestyle, diet and so forth.
December 9, 201015 yr Yeah, thats right, thats why I put out my info. I'm 57 and have ran Mini Marathons/5Ks/10ks. I use to run to work and back. Played basketball and ref. Never smoked/dranked/played softball from the age of 12 -54. But as we age our medicine cabinet gets bigger. My parents never made it to their 60s. But their siblings are in their 70s/80s. They were both heavy smokers. Unsweeten grits and an egg this morning and I'm full. I take a shot a day in the belly. And if I have to take that shot am I gonna eat sweets during the UK basketball game or watching a movie? Nope...I hope this and others comments can help others. Its mostly mental. I might even try the Mini this next year, haven't ran it in 10 years.
December 9, 201015 yr Keep up the hard work guys. If you really want to lose the weight bad enough, it can and will happen. I'm currently at 118 pounds lost since Jan. 1. Exercise is a main key to helping in the weight loss. I went from walking to the fridge to running 5K races every weekend. This month I have signed up to do the the Flying Pig 1/2 marathon. :thumb:
