Belfry 42 Russell 14

Congrats to Belfry on the win, good luck next week. :thumb::thumb:

Russell's kids have nothing to hang their heads over. Most people, including me, didn't think that you would get past the 1st round. Your kids stepped it up when it came time to.

Belfry controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and that was the story in this one. The Pirates moved the ball really well on offense, running for nearly 400 yds. It really could have been worse if not for 3 Belfry turnovers, including one muffed punt that led to one of Russell's scores. The Pirates were also very effective up front on defense, consistently keeping Russell in long yardage situations and using their defensive speed to limit the Red Devils ground game.

Belfry really struck a hard blow scoring on a 25 or so yard pass on the last play of the first half to go up 21-0. They also got the ball back to start the 2nd half but quickly turned it over on a fumble, which led to Russell's first TD. Belfry then went up 28-7 and held Russell on their next possession, but muffed the punt and gave the Red Devils great field position at about the Belfry 30, which led to Russell's 2nd touchdown to cut the lead to 28-14.

It was all Pirates from there on out.

Congratulations to Russell on a fine season. Hope everyone has a safe return trip. Maybe we'll do it again next year.

I thought this might be a closer game than this. Belfry ran the ball well tonight, and controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Good game, great atmosphere, and good food. There was a great crowd on hand. Is this the norm for regular season games at the CAM.

I never thought I would see the day when a Belfry win over Russell in the regional final would have only four posts on Sunday. Wow.
