Coach Hunter dips into KY for another talented player in the 2011 class...

 

Have they gotten a single commitment from an athlete outside of the state of Kentucky?

Way to go 'Cellus!

 

I couldn't be happier for an outstanding young man from a fine family.

Very happy for this young man and agree they got another good one from KY.

I can't begin to express how happy I am for this young man. He has flown under the radar over the past few years and is one of the most underrated players in the state, IMO.

 

When I spoke to Cellus earlier, he seemed extremely excited about the opportunity to play for IUPUI and Coach Hunter.

 

He says the following reasons were why he made the decision:

 

1. Realtionship he built with Coach Hunter. The two hit it off right off the bat and Coach told him that he really wants him which made a great impression since Marcellus is a family oriented kid.

 

2. Playing time. He knows he'll have to work hard both on the court, in the weightroom, and classroom, but he knows with the extra effort and time, he can continue to improve his game and play right away at the 1, 2, or 3. Hunter told him to come in ready to play because they will be using him a lot. Both are looking forward to bringing out the aggressive side of Marcellus game and maximizing his potential.

 

3. Sports Broadcasting. While in Indianapolis, he was fortunate enough to meet Clark Kellogg and it made him realize the opportunities he could have after school and basketball in the "real world." He is really excited about the possible internships that he may be able to do in that area. He plans to major in Sports Broadcasting.

 

4. Lastly, they were the only school to offer him. Still very surprised by this because he is a very good kid both on and off the court, but this makes him want to work even harder. It's rare that you find a student-athlete that has his athletic ability while also carrying a 3.7 gpa.

 

Again, I wish Marcellus nothing but the best.
