A few years ago Covington Catholic started letting parents, friends, and family join in the post-game huddle on the field - win or lose. Coach Wirth sort of inherited the new tradition and hasn't ended it. I can't imagine he's for it.

 

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bad idea, right? This isn't pee wee. Let the team celebrate or commiserate as a team. Parents aren't part of the team.

Doesn't sound like a constructive idea to me either.

I'm not for it after every game. The team huddle is

for the team. Parents need to stay back. I don't believe at Highlands they actually have a formal or manditory team huddle after every game. After the game it seems that the team celebrates, does the politically correct make everyone feel happy hand shake and then head over to the locker room and to chat with family .

 

I have seen celebratory huddles after a game for the team and coaches which is fun and crazy and I have seen season ending after the game huddles. I'm not sure how a player feels, but the only time a parent should be remotly close to the team after a game is maybe after a season ending loss. Just support if they want it.

Post game huddles should be for players and coaches only. I don't see any reason for parents, friends or relatives to be involved. Win or lose this is a time for the team. After the team breaks the huddle, thats the time to meet with the players.

I am with you, not a big fan of anyone in the huddle after a game. It is like the locker room, members only.

 

Let friends and family wait until the team breaks the huddle.

We have a local team that allows this and I have to say I'm not for it at all. Would the team allow the parents at practice all week, in the pregame and halftime talks? No. Parents belong in the stands at the games, not in the huddles or on the sidelines--not even if they are taking pictures. Too many biased emotions present. Let the kids grow up a little on their own.
