It's no different than the slope that we see people arguing to prevent firearm registraion using. An argument I agree with by the way. Just because we despise them and what they say does not mean that they do not have the right to say it, especially if it is on public property.

It's a shame there are idiots in this country that would protest a funeral for any reason. If you don't agree with the military's stance on gays then protest the pentagon. These people are pathetic cowards who represent everything that is negative about religion.

Is it horrible and and disgraceful that this group acts this way? Absolutely. But illegal? I have a hard time believing that any law addressing the matter could be written in such a way as not to offend the protections of the First Amendment, protections which should be construed in the broadest possible terms.

I think a law could pass if it was content-neutral and simply prevented the speech from being done in specific areas - as opposed to banning the speech entirely. But you're right, there are plenty of 1st Amendment problems with a law like that.

I don't understand the rationale here. Music groups have CD's that people can choose to buy or concerts that people choose to attend. I would have no problem with this group recording their protesting ideas and distributing them through i-tunes and CD's. That doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.

 

If a music group set up in my neighborhood I'd ask the police to remove them for "disturbing the peace". I don't know why that concept can't be applied to this group of idiots.
