First of all, there is a big difference scheduling the number one team in 2A vs. a team that has less than 30 in their program. Secondly, there is no guarantee that Conner makes the playoffs this year. Ryle, SK, Campbell, and Boone will all have something to say about that. Who knows, Cooper may have something to say about it as well. Playing teams like Highlands, Cov Cath, Henry Clay, Middletown, Scott County, and New Cath far better prepare you for tough NKY competition than South Oldham, Scott, and Lloyd. Their scheduling, as I stated earlier, is a joke. It will be likely that they will have a winning record and not make the playoffs. Congrats.

Defend it however you want. Schedule padding does nothing for your program. If you don't see a difference between New Cath and Lloyd you may want to widen your scope on reality.

I've never put together a schedule so I have zero clue how difficult it is. Maybe Conner had no other viable options that didn't require travel.

 

The ONLY justification I see for scheduling a perennially weak Lloyd team is to give your inexperienced team experience. That would only be justified if it was done recently.

 

If that's not the reason (and , again, it might be THE reason) then it's hard to justify as there are too many good teams in NKY and Cincinnati that would most likely be available.

 

IMO it puts a team that has a chance to be good behind a week.

Conner played Oldham County a top 12 team in 5A. Oldham also has 4 players making D1 official visits.
