How far away would you go from home to play college football and what level would you go that far to play.

 

I was talking to a D-3 coach from Ohio over the weekend and he has players as far as away from Calf in his freshmen class.

The distance on which a football player will travel has a direct relationship on the level of the school in my opinion. For example, if I had D3 talent I would most likely stay in about a 3 hour radius of NKY. Now say USC comes calling I would seriously consider them. Although the specific situation in which you posted refutes my opinion haha.

I went and played football at a college in Ohio 6 hours from home. In my signing class we had kids from all over including California, Florida, Texas, New York, The Bahamas, Kansas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and every state that borders Ohio. Almost every school in the country recruits Florida and the players go all over to play. I am no longer at that school and lots of the other out of state players usually leave as well but there are a whole lot of players from those states mentioned above that are still there playing.

I wouldn't have left this area (KY, OH, WV, TN) for less than a D1 scholarship.

Just what I have noticed: most high school players that I have been familiar with do not want to go further then two or three hours from home. This has been true for everyone except big big D1 programs. So, I would say anything less then D1 would be three hour limit.
