October 11, 201114 yr Just returned from NYC. Had Grimaldi's Pizza in Brooklyn and it was very good. Great atmosphere. 30+ people in line 30 minutes before it opened. However, I lean towards John's Pizzeria in Manhattan as the better pizza.
October 11, 201114 yr If it's pizza you want, try Ray's. It's a little hard to find in the Big Apple but well worth the search.
October 11, 201114 yr ^ I'm impressed you guys can remember this stuff. My biggest problem when I'm up there is that my friends show me around and then I can't remember what anything was called. I guess that's a consequence of never having to find anything for myself. I went to a great Greek restaurant in Astoria... no idea what that place was called. Just one of many...

Owner/manager got very upset and said no pictures.....that was odd!

October 11, 201114 yr My first trip to NYC. Interesting. Need about 3 weeks straight to take it all in. I went to Mass at St Peter Cathedral in Brooklyn. I am convinced I will never attend a more diverse Mass. Good mix of white, black, Latino. First reading was in Spanish. Pastor has started using the new readings and responses that aren't supposed to start until Avent. They had a sign language person (lack of an official term) up front and there were about 8 deaf people in attendance. For the Catholics amongst us who are familiar with the Sign of Peace this one was different than what you and I might be used to. In addition to shaking hands with those around else everyone threw up the peace sign and waved it to everyone in the church.
October 11, 201114 yr ^ There's a lot of that up there. I went to a parish one Sunday morning in Queens that started with a Traditional Latin Mass at 8:30 in the morning then had Novus Ordo masses in Spanish, English, Italian, Czech and Vietnamese all before the sun set. Pretty remarkable undertaking and no small feat for all these cultures to co-exist within a parish structure.
