Boone County vs Covington Catholic Predictions for 6/4/2010

Any thoughts on this?? It should be a great game!!

Didn't CovCath throw a couple of JV pitchers earlier in the year and win comfortably?

Correct. Not sure what that tells us though.

Conner didn't throw a JV pitcher in the districts and Boone put up a slot of runs.

Boone will come in as the favorite.

I'm assuming Deno vs. Warning, which should be a very interesting matchup of quality lefties. As hot as Boone bats have been, can't see them putting up huge numbers against Warning, but would still give them the overall edge.

I'm not sure 5 to 3 is winning comfortably but maybe at big blue that is comfortably. Boone's bats are way too hot. Boone by at least five. And don't be surprised to see Teegarden on the hill again.

For two rookies in their first outing to hold a top Northern Kentucky team to three runs is saying somthing. 5 runs, I highly doubt it. People have been underestimating this team all year...

Pitchers in the last and only game this season between CovCath and Boone County @ CovCath

Teegarden (L) 5 innings 90 pitches 25 PA 7 hits 4 runs 2 earned runs 2 walks 1 k and 2 hbp

Afflord 1 inning 12 pitches 5 AB 2 hits 1 run 1 earned run and 1 walk

Fagel 4 innings 53 pitches 17 PA 3 hits 3 runs 2 earned runs and 1 walk

Arzen (W) 3 innings 42 pitches 11 PA 2 hits 0 runs and 2 K's

Of note: This was one of many games that Brett Stayton missed due to injury and also at this point in the season, Brady Reese had yet to become a regular and he too didn't play in this game!

This will be a one outstanding high school baseball game and of course you can listen to it live on CovCath Internet Radio: Click the below link to listen:

I understand Boone County is the District winner and CovCath is the District loser but who is the home team in this game? Is the team on top the home team (which CovCath is) or since Boone is a District winner are they the home team. Just wondering!

I'm assuming district winner and loser is irrelevant at this point as you could have 2 district winners playing each other in the semi's.

The team in the upper half of the bracket is the home team.

That is not correct, if a district winner vs. a district winner it is a coin toss for home team, if a winner vs. a runner up then the district winner is home team. This was agreed upon by the coaches at the draw.

I believe Mendoza is right. If he is not, then they need to rethink how they operate because the one should be home team over a two; however, if both are same seed then a toss of a coin seems fair.

I say if Teegarden pitches then Boone wins no matter who Cov Cath throws.

Teegarden has become the best pitcher in the 33rd and one of the best in the region. I'm not sure how many innings he had thrown this season before the Cov Cath game as he was injured earlier in the season but he is on fire right now. I still think Deno starts this game as he is a very good pitcher as well and FRESH. If they win, Teegarden is given the extra day rest for the final. If they fall behind or Deno struggles, all hands on deck. I think Boone's offense is too much to stop right now. As long as their defense can field the bunts they will win in a close one. According to TOG Cov Cath has been known to leave too many men on base which tells me they get are playing small ball to get them over but aren't getting the hits to get them in.

Warning will pitch for CovCath.
