Brossart 7 Campbell Co 6 (9 Innings)

Featured Replies

Brossart defeated Campbell County 7-6 in nine innings to claim the 37th District Championship Thursday night at Morscher Field in Silver Grove.

Brossart spotted the Camels four runs early in the game and then gunned them down late.

The Mustangs were the beneficiaries of some late-game Camel miscues.

I think a better way to put it, rather than the Mustangs gunned down the Camels. Mustangs survive as Camels shoot themselves over and over and over and over again and hand the game to the Mustangs after numerous fatal, self inflicted wounds. Congratulations to the Mustangs

I have to agree with this statement!

I believe it was a 10 inning game and Brossart was actually down at one point 5-0. This was an exciting game - but not necessarily the best played game. I agree with 'dd734' that a lot of the runs Brossart scored late could have been avoided by better defense by the Camels. However, the runs scored by CC early were also somewhat of the gift varity. In the first inning when Camels scored three runs, it was fueled with an error on the shortstop, then a walk. Brossart had it's share of miss plays - the difference in my opinion was that Brossart played better as the game progressed and CC's play started well and deteriorated.

David Greis started for the Mustangs, with Ian Heman (named District Tourney MVP) closing out the game. Jon Rust started for CC, with Teagarden finishing and taking the loss. Losey and Vann from CC and Travis Norton and Anthony Steffen from Brossart named to the all district team.

Congrats to the Mustangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to both teams in the Regional Tournament. :dancingpa
