Over the top or not, he made a solid college choice. Perhaps it's just my demeanor, but I'd much rather go where I'd play, than where I'd see the floor only slightly more than the trainer.

 

I TOTALLY agree with you on this. I think he made a great choice.

Well, we keep being told that kids transfer to certain schools for the exposure and to help their chances at landing a Division I scholarship ... Hall is one that did neither and still managed to get one.

This is a great college choice for Vance and a good fit. He was one of the best players in the state and should have been considered for Mr. Basketball. Take Vance off of Franklin Co.'s team and they are under .500, no doubt. Remove Justice from Shelby Valley and his team would still probably win their region. I am not trying to put down Justice at all because he is a great player, but if they switched spots and Vance was on Shelby Valley instead of Justice, he would have stronger statistical numbers and they would still have won the title. Once again, not putting down Justice because he is a great talent, just saying Vance is better. He also should've been UK's walk-on choice, but I think he's better off playing at Wright State than being UK's practice scrub anyway!

Really? Come on. Congratulations to Vance, I hope you have a wonderful career. I hope you achieve all your goals and graduate to a place in life where all your dreams come true.

 

Now, why in the world do we constantly have posts that seem to assume that every kid was snubbed by UK? Unfreakinbelievable. There are a select few, and I mean select few that are talented enough to play at the level of Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina and those type schools. There's no shame in not being one of those kids. As a matter of fact, Vance is an elite athlete simply in the fact that he's attained a D1 scholarship to play basketball. That in and of itself is amazing and should be highly commended. But to assume he and others like him were snubbed and UK missed out is frankly laughable. IMO, it lessens the accomplishment of the kid when posts like this are made. Not hard to see why so many detest UK fans and their loony comments sometimes.

So before you go off putting words in my mouth, I was congratulating the young man and I think the fact that he got a D1 scholarship is great, not taking anything from him. ALL I AM SAYING IS THAT I THOUGHT THAT OUT OF TALENT THAT WE HAVE IN STATE, VANCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE PLAYERS ON UK's RADAR. In other words, out of all the kids that I got to see play this year, I really liked his game. He has proven all year long that he is one of the top players in the state and will continue to do so. Wright State will be a great situation for Hall. speaking to the comment about the preferred walk-on opportunity at UK... as a guard, walking on at UK means you won great seats to UK games! Coach Cal has already proved his lead guard (and maybe the 2 guard also)is going to be a lottery pick every year, its a credit to Cal, but makes a guard walk-on position not very attractive.

 

It may be true that Guard Walk-Ons may only win great sits, but I still think that a player like Hall, after watching his game, would contribute on a team like UK that needs a shooter. Regarless, the kid can play.
