Bulldog_Chem Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Does anyone have any information on who the leading canadates are for the Lincoln Co and the Boyle Co jobs?
retropop Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The Lady Rebels' program has become a coaching revolving door. They have had quality coaches and some fine people directing the program, so why is this job repeatedly open? This filling-the-vacancy routine has been repeated too many times over too short of a time span to not make prospective applicants wary of pursuing it. From the outside looking in, Boyle Co. has all of the trappings of being a good job - and it once was a good job. It's a good school, a good system and has good facilities, which makes this all the more difficult to understand. Is the probelm administration, parental, the AD, or a lack of talent, or a combo of causes - what is the deal?:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
Bulldog_Chem Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 The rumor that I've always heard is that parents at Boyle are unreal to deal with and the administration caves in to those parents. It's really a shame because with the perception that is out there about Boyle Co they are going to struggle to find ANOTHER good coach. When I first heard that David Christopher was resigning I assumed that his assistant Julie Muntz would take over, but she is not even going to apply for the position.
rebel man Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I am hearing that it is probably going to be Greg Edwards. He wants it for a couple of years for his retirement. I think he is a decent coach but that really tells you the state of the program. They will be looking yet again for another coach.
gchs_uk9 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I believe it is widely thought that Lincoln County will hire former Lincoln and Austin Peay player, and current assistant Cassandra Peak. As for Boyle County...who knows.
Bulldog_Chem Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Greg Edwards was the name I've been hearing for the Boyle job as well.
rebel man Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Edwards wanted the job when they gave it to Judy Mason and was also not given the boys job when he applied this last time. No positions open for teaching this time may finally land him the job.
retropop Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Musical coaching chairs, Chinese fire drill ... what a pity. The girls and the program deserve much more and much better than the names mentioned above, and that's really not stated to take anything away from those people. This appears to be an administrative rear-end covering. Now if this was a football vacancy, I'm sure there would be a nation-wide search for Guy Morris or something similar. But this "is just girls' basketball," and there is not the same gravity. The powers-that-be need to find someone who is seriously committed to coaching girls' basketball and making the Lady Rebels' program respectable and successful ... oh, wait, they have had that the past few years and the past few coaches. Sorry. It looks like another temporary fix to something that deserves a long-term solution --- but the commitment problem really is with the powers-that-be (a.k.a., AD & administration)
rebel man Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I have been told by a previous coach that the AD is just a figure head with no power and just covers his butt. The problem lies with the principal who tries but has no idea about athletics and as the previous poster suggested caves to the parents. I am very proud of our football program but they(Administrators) have not helped boys or girls coaches in basketball.

I am very proud of our football program but they(Administrators) have not helped boys or girls coaches in basketball. Boys basketball seems to be on the upswing, but they really need someone that will provide some stablity in the girls program. I hope they hire someone who plans on staying long term, not another one or two year coach. As for the parent problems, my understanding is that the biggest parent problem graduated this past season, but when one goes, another seems to take his/her place.
Bulldog_Chem Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 No. My assistant has applied for both the Boyle girls job and the Garrard boys job. I think Boyle has settled on Greg Edwards, but he may get an interview with Garrard? I can't get a read on what they are doing over there. I'm very happy where I'm at currently. Love the team I'm bringing back next season and my kids love going to school at Burgin. My son is starting 2nd base for the varsity baseball team as an 8th grader. I plan on staying put for awhile. Why are you asking Coly?
ColyCrazy Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 It just seemed that way. If that is the situation you have, I would stay too, goodluck.

I consider myself pretty closely connected with the Garrard situation...and I can't get an idea on what they are doing either!
retropop Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Has there still not been any definite action taken at Boyle County? :idunno:
