Bryan Station Head Coach position

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard anything as to what Bryan Station is doing with their Head Coaching search?

I don't know who would be interested in a position where the old coach was not backed by the administration.

Wasn't Michael Allen's name floating around previously?

Understand Mike Allen has the job after Thursday interviews. Curious how a guy gets a great job who isn't certified and is a proven loser:

At Bryan Station Boys (Check record as head Varsity Assistant, last year 2-24),

Bryan Station Girls (took over a winning program roughly 18-10 the year before he arrives losing record his first season and are 9 - 18 his second and last year when he resigned having been told he would get the boys job when they fired Ligon)

Frankfort Boys (enough said, they couldn't wait to get him out and again, wins were like hen's teeth)

I guess it pays to be a breakfast buddy and F.O.B. (Friend of Barnes)

Watch the words, just like in football, the bad record won't be the coach's fault, it will be he didn't have any talent.

Was there any other name in the mix? I have to believe Bryan Station had some candidates apply.

I wouldn't be so sure of this...the administration fired Champ Ligon after he was the KHSAA state coach of the year. Not sure many coaches would want to work for an administration that did that. I do wish Mike Allen the best but if he has a winning season he needs to be careful, they may fire him. :ohbrother:

This was a foregone conclusion, probably a big reason Mike Allen didn't coach last year. They were hoping people would forget the 31-80 record if he took a year off. Obviously he was a heck of a player, but that is not translating here. Due to talent alone, he should at least be .500, but his coaching record says Henry Clay and Scott County can continue to book plans for the region tournament every year.

Actually, the administration fired Ligon in summer of 07. The Superintendent made them take him back and he went 30-3 and was KY Coach-of-the-Year in the 07-08 season. The last 3 years they harrassed him to the point where he finally had had enough. The Principal (Gladys Peoples) and Principal (John Barnes) have now fulfilled there plan of 3 years ago and hired their friend, Mike Allen.

A little research on the KHSAA scoreboard shows the following records for Mike Allen coached teams:

Frankfort Boys (13-40)

08-09 - (11-19)

07-08 - (2-21)

17 wins per-season avg. the previous 8 years

Bryan Station Girls (17-41)

06-07 - (7-23)

05-06 - (10-18)

19 wins per-season avg. the previous 7 years

The Bryan Station Boys have averaged 21 wins a season the last 7 years. Let's see how Mike Allen does.

With the current administration I wouldn't consider Bryan Station a great job. Lots of talent but little direction.

These articles might add a little perspective to the current Bryan Station situation. All you can do is feel for the kids when the adults are incompetent.

Has there been a hire made here yet?

Congrats to coach Allen! Believe it or not he will do a good job!
