Just going by some of the feelings your projecting. Ballard goes and clears the bench early in the 4th.

Believe me, I think they'll win, but I see no way they win by 31! If they clear the bench, there's even less of a chance. Remember, the other notes I've hit on are the fact that these two teams met in December and Ballard won by only 3, and Central was without Shanklin. I mean every word of what I've said about them matching up well with Central and doing most of those things better, but the only thing that makes me think "blowout" is if they shoot every bit as well as they did yesterday with Central not improving at all.

I recognize Ballard scored 90 the other day, but that does not happen all that often at the Sweet 16. It rarely happens to Central anywhere. Central has only allowed 80+ once this year, that being to Memphis White Station, which is better than any team in this state. They've only allowed 70+ five times this year, one of which was 75 to Ballard. The bottom line is that Central's defense is better than allowing that many points to be scored. I can see Ballard by 15, but I do not see 31 points.

I've mentioned that Ballard has won all five meetings all-time against Central, but they've never won by more than 6.

Well, I'm regretting not picking Central in the poll just so they can get some love.

I'll go on the record as saying Ballard by 9 tomorrow. I'm interested to see if Shanklin being in this one can make the difference from three months ago. I still say Ballard is a team of destiny, rising every 11 years to win the title.

It's ok to be scared. The first step is to admit your fear. Second, breathe slowly and relax. You're right, 90 points is a lot. Let me redo my prediction:

Ballard 82 Warren Central 51

You dream. It's as simple as that. If Central loses by 31+, I will not come on BGP for a month.

BTW, Ballard does not scare me, and I do not appreciate my attempts to have a discussion with you being met with that insulting response. Perhaps at some point you'd like to explain your thoughts beyond a 31 point prediction.

I really think you need to give WC more credit than you have. WC has the height advantage and Fant is a scorer on the inside I doubt Ballard can contend with. Male with a 6'4 Tony Horne on the inside nearly pulled the upset. Male had two very non-athletic type players on the court for most of the game and I am sure WC has more athletism than them.

Again, my prediction is was not draw insult, but rather get you to think about WC having more of a chance than you seem to think.

One thing about me you will see is that I am a pessimist at heart, and will usually focus on the negative more than the positive. I do not mean to indicate that I don't think Central can win, just that I don't think they will. Ballard is a very good team, Central is a good team as well, but streaky. They don't often put together what I would call 4 good quarters, and they play to the level of their competition. In games against teams like East Carter, that's a bad thing, in games against teams like Ballard, well, that's not so bad. They do have the height, and George will need to have the type of game he had against Christian County or Greenwood, when he dropped 32 and 31 points respectively.

My worries are that Ballard will pressure Central to death. Pressing teams don't like to be pressed, and when Central has come up against exceptional press teams, it bothers them. Outside of Shanklin, they don't have any very trustworthy ballhandlers, and even Jordan has a propensity to turn the ball over. Central has to limit their transition turnovers and work it inside to George. And they have absolutely got to limit Ballard on the perimeter where they live. 4-5 three pointers, not great, but OK. 9 threes like Shelby County gave up? Danger.

Oh, and free throws. For the love of God, Warren Central needs to hit some free throws. I knew it was bad, but I finally saw the numbers on it, which was 57% as a team with no shooter over 66%.

And WC nearly beat Ballard without Shanklin earlier this season. Relax. Call the doc and refill your Lortabs.
