How many times has this been done on the boys' side?

I remember a discussion about it a year or two ago, and someone said they thought Edmonson County in 1976 might have been the last one to accomplish it.

Hopkinsville in 1985. Lost to Christian County in the district finals. Beat them in the region finals.

The best team in the history of Ky high school basketball lost in the finals of the district. 79 lafayette with minniefield, johnson, wilson, minniefield, rose and others lost to Melvin Turpin in the district (Bryan Station)

DragonFire is right about Edmondson County. Had a couple of players sick and Glasgow beat them. They would go on to win the state championship and prevented the tournament from changing to multiple classes which was the hot subject at the time. After they won it was a consensus, this is a unique and wonderful tournament, leave it alone.

A little side note to 79 Lafayette: after losing the district title game Generals coach Jock Sutherland busted up the runner-up trophy in the locker room and told the players a loser would get on the floor to pick pieces up of a loser's trophy. Motivation that must have worked!
