16th Regions Big Three

Seemed like through the 1980's and 90's that it was either Boyd Co., Ashland, or Greenup Co. (excluding Rowan Countys 3peat in the late 8o's). making the yearly trek to the Sweet 16. Since Ashland's trip to Rupp in 2002 none of the three have been there. My questions for all the 16th trivia buffs. Is this the longest drought for the three schools? This will be the 8th season without one of the three going.

If we are including Ashland, Boyd, and Greenup in this list, then the only multiple-year droughts with none of the three winning a regional title looks something like this:

Catlettsburg: 1941

Mount Sterling: 1942-43

Olive Hill: 1944

Clark County: 1945, 1947-52

Breckinridge Training: 1946

 

2. 8 Years (2003-current)

I thought Biggs would make a bigger splash in the 16th as it got to a point he was totally dominating in the 10th region with Pendleton County! I don't think he has ever made a regional final in ther 16th? Of course he had to deal with a 3,000 pound gorilla the last few years!

How many years has Biggs been at Ashland? If he has only been there three years then you have to consider how dominate Elliott has been.

I thought he left Pendleton in 06', so this would be about his forth year there.
