Story lines from this one: Holmes comes out on fire from 3 point land and CovCath still can't hit free throws.

Not surprised on the second part. How bad did they do with them tonight?(FreeThrows I mean)

Neither team hit free throws, until the game was no longer in question.

CovCath had their opportunities. Too many turnovers, but a good defensive team will do that too you.

Good luck in the regionals to both teams. I hope both teams stay healthy and play their hearts out!

I know with about 4 minutes to go in the game CovCath was 2/6 from the line and Holmes was 2/7 from the line.

Wow that is not many free throws for this game. I would think if the refs really let them play, it would be a very physical game with these two teams

I want to say there was only 13 fouls in the first half for both teams combined. Third quarter flew by, didn't seem like there was any clock stoppage.

As you can see this game was won in the first quarter as other than in the 4th where Holmes won by 02 it was a tie game.

With 3:21 seconds left in the 4th quarter CovCath had pulled within six points but that was the closest the Colonels came.

All 35th District team:

From Beechwood-- Johnny Pohlgeers

From Cov Holy Cross-- Marcus Lea

From CovCath-- Alex Connelly

From CovCath-- Trevor Wellbrock

From Cov Holmes-- Elijah Pittman

From Cov Holmes-- Ricardo Johnson

From Cov Holmes-- Jeremiah Johnson Tourney MVP

Holmes has a very very good starting five, but when Junior Mr. Rice comes into the game, it hurts Holmes.

It depends on which Rice comes in.

The stand on the perimeter and chuck up 3s Rice does not help them.

The get the ball on the wing and put your head down and get to the rim because you're a mismatch does help them.

Why is that?

Just curious, don't know too much about either team.

For CCH the highlight was the continuing improvement and emergence of Alex Connelly. He now gives it to you on both ends where before he was a stopper. Shot looks good. Drive to the basket looks good.

CCH will either have a perimeter game or they will lose.

On a side note, the guy sitting next to Jamel Riley is a texting machine. Every time I looked over he was knocking out another text. Quite impressive.

Why is that?

Last night against Beechwood the young man didn't see a shot he didn't like and was: 3/9 FG 0/2 3P FG. Tonight he was 1/4 FG 0/1 3P FG.

Late in the 4th Holmes tried to get him into the game but were too late in doing so, and I commented to a Holmes fan behind me, luckiest play all night long for Holmes and the fan laughed but agreed.

Holmes starting five are indeed outstanding but they are just no where near as deep as last years team and at some point it going to bite them and at this point in the season it's one and done!
