Still think that is the case??? Looks like they are up to more parliamentary tricks. Look to me like the House is trying to avoid voting on the senate bill, because they do not have enough votes/democrats in the house willing to commit political suicide for Obama.

 

They would still need a majority to do it that way. They would vote on their fixes to the Senate bill that the Senate is supposed to pass through reconciliation, but included in the vote would be a self-executing procedure passing the Senate bill. They'll still have to have 216 members pass the fixes, including the Senate version, but it will be a two-for-one deal and keeps the Senate from reneging on the reconciliation fixes. But, if they do it that way I'll buy you a beer and we can talk about how dumb Democrats are because it's a pointless idea.

I was trying to find information about it, but if they do that that I am still not sure that the Senate is bound to abide by whatever "fixes" the house put in their procedure.

They voted to deem the Senate bill passed??? Seems they do not want the vote on their record, which speaks volumes for what they think of it?

I would assume this means the Senate has to pass the House's fix before the president signs it, but it's unclear to me at this point. It would at least provide some cover for the House if the Senate didn't do it. The only reason the House would do it this way is to distance themselves from the giveaways in the Senate bill, like the Medicare handout to Nebraska for Ben Nelson, that they are wanting fixed. Since they already passed a much more ambitious bill, and would be de facto passing the Senate bill, I don't think they are trying to "hide." But they are being a bit absurd if this is how they try to pass it. They aren't doing themselves any favors.
