I don't think it's now or never because having Kobe with some legit post players always makes them a threat. Jordan won titles into his mid to late 30's so I wouldn't say Kobe's window is close to closed.

Wade and Stoudemire to team up in Miami

Dirk and LeBron to stay home

And guys like Joe Johnson and David Lee to collect the big checks and move to new teams.

Hey man I'm not a Cavs fan, I'm a LeBron fan. I go where he goes. I don't care if that the Cavs, Knicks, Lakers, the Eastern Kentucky Miners, whoever. I make no bones about that :lol:.

 

It does work out better for me that he's close so I can go to games, but I don't see how anyone thinks he has a greater chance of leaving than he does staying. It's just not realistic I don't think.

With alot of teams having cap money, someone will pay Lee 8-10 million per year I'd imagine. I don't know if the Knicks could use the MLE on him, but he'd have to get more elsewhere. Even if he couldn't, another teams MLE would have to equal more money because of taxes and cost of living.

I agree I don't see him in NY and he will be at least a 15 Mil/year player for someone.

I don't think it is do or die because of 2 reasons. They have Pau and Bynum for the next few years. Pau is a perfect fit for Kobe and the triangle. Bynum is going to be a 25 and 10 guy at some point once he can stay healthy and get enough touches. And well Kobe is just Kobe. I want to see him with an off season to rest and get healthy before I throw in the towel and just call him old. I love what they are doing right now resting him and I hope they keep him out a few more weeks. What is the point? They are winning without him and even if they don't it doesn't matter they will get the 1 seed. I think he wants to play because he loves to battle but you have to look at the big picture and it is more important for him to get this rest. It might be the difference in winning and lossing the Finals IMO.

I agree to a point. The Lakers aren't afraid to pay the tax so they'll compete as long as they have an owner willing to compete and Kobe.

 

The part I disagree w/ though is Kobe for sure wants to be out there and will be as soon as possible IMO. He knows he has a chance at Kareem. If he misses 10 games that's 270 points or more. If it goes to 20 we're looking at 540+. He can't miss games while he's this young.
