January 20, 201016 yr Author A little confusion in MSU thread, can someone explain SIU-Edwardsville situation, as to conference affiliation and schedule they are playing? They are playing a limited OVC schedule at this time as they transition in to the OVC from D-II. While a member of the conference, they are not eligible for any postseason tournament nor do they play every team. westsider or Scribe may know when they officially start. Maybe next season.

After looking into it a little more, Bugatti is correct that SIU Edwardsville is in a transition period from Division II to Division I. According to their web site, they will be elgible to fully participate in NCAA Division I championship events begining the fall of 2012.

January 29, 201016 yr Author Murray State plays at Martin on Saturday on ESPNU. I am excited to see the Bracket Buster game announcement which will be on Monday. Murray State plays at home this year on Bracket Buster day and they have a good shot of getting a decent opponent for once and potentially an ESPN game. In the last College Insider poll, Murray State was ranked #8 amongst mid-majors and a 13 seed in the latest Bracketology.
January 29, 201016 yr Author They should kill UT-Martin. Yes, they should. They did earlier this year and I was in attendance. Martin was pitiful.

February 7, 201016 yr Author Any chance Murray enters one of the polls soon? They must be the real deal. They would have to win out. No signature win. They are solid, but they are not great by any means... just really balanced. All five starters average in between 10.0 pts and 10.9 pts. per game, which is odd in itself. They are also really good defensively, but they lack any go to guy like a Faried. The last Murray State team to crack the top 25 was in 1998. That team was a lot better than this one. I still expect a couple more losses before the OVC tournament. Edited March 5, 201016 yr by bugatti
February 12, 201016 yr Author I know some of our Morehead State fans had to see the ending to last night's heartbreaking game against EIU. Some Chris Weber flashbacks. MSU kept their good season going with a 94-62 win at Tennessee Tech. February 22, 201016 yr Author I am not sure how the tiebreaker situation works out with Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay? The OVC is also supposed to have some kind of an announcement today about future scheduling and Nashville being more of a "destination". Whatever that is supposed to mean? 16 of the past 17 OVC tournaments have been in Nashville. Lunardi was asked about Murray State and he said the only way the Racers get in is via the OVC tournament, despite potentially reaching 30 wins before the OVC championship. Does anyone know if a 30 win team has been left out of the NCAA tournament? I cannot disagree with him. Murray State plays at Morehead State on Thursday and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. It would not shock me to see them lose both games.
February 22, 201016 yr Author http://www.ovcsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=6200&ATCLID=204891003 The "announcement" was a restructuring of how the OVC tournament will operate. Starting in 2011, it will be formatted so that the #1 and #2 seeds automatically make the semis, #3 and #4 start out in the quarters, and seeds #5, #6, #7, and #8 play one another for a shot to make the quarters. Similar to how the Big East is operating now. The other announcement was that the OVC tournament will go back to the Municipal Auditorium next year. If anyone has ever been there, it is the biggest dump of an arena created. It is a joke.
