Pinched Nerve-What about a Chiropractor?

Congrats. I have been thru the same thing before. NEVER have the surgery unless there is no other option. The Chiro can almost always take care of it. I too was told I would have to have the surgery by a Specialist. Here I am over 20 years later and NO surgery. Take care of your back and good luck.:thumb:

When my husband was a 20 year old college basketball player, he ruptured 3 disks in his back after being stiff and having sciatic nerve pain for several months. After living in agony for 6 months, he finally had career-ending surgery. The neurosurgeon told him if he continued to try and play high-level ball, he would most likely live in pain the rest of his life. He has always said that if he had visited a chiro after the initial stiffness/pain, he could have maybe avoided the ruptures.

I'm so glad you are feeling better.

I have been going to a chiropractor, occasionally for over 20 years now and know they have a place in joint/nerve relief, especially the sciatic nerve.

If I were you, I would go back periodically for an adjustment to make sure you do not have another major episode with your nerves.

Good luck!

Our plan is to go 2x's next week, then one time the next, then at least one a month for sure!!!

***UPDATE***

Went to a local chiropractor here in Owensboro with a good reputation...made me watch videos--which I'm sure is suppose to start the brainwashing process...lol. Overall a very positive experience.

Took a ton of x-rays and found that I have a buldging disc that is causing the nerve issues and I am curving my spine to compensate, probably been that way since July of 2008 when I did this last time...

1.)Got an adjustment...sounded like firecrackers going off

2.)Got this small jackhammer thing done on my back

3.)Decompression table for 10 mins

4.)Russian stimulation table for 10 mins

5.)Ice for the rest of the day

Well, pain is down to a 4 instead of 6 today...another appointment at 5pm!!! Thanks for the insight!

Also found out I have the straightest neck the guy had ever seen which isn't a great thing. The head is so heavy that you need some curve in your spine near your head...glad I found this out and he gave me excerises to correct it and avoid pain and problems down the road.

After my first visit to the chiro, they also noticed my neck is very straight. The curve of the neck helps absorb pressure, spreading it through multiple joints but with our straight necks it can result in some pain since the pressure is centralized.

I'm glad to see the visits have been positive, I wish I could get adjusted every day, and I love the stim.
