Not sure about that but it would had stop them from driving and dishing the ball and getting easy shots. We could have got a little rest for the 4th quarter. I believe you have to make Holmes prove they can shoot the ball from out of the paint. If you box them out and do your job in the zone in mixes things up. You just can not play them man to man for 4 quarters and play 6 kids. Newport just played a team bigger than Holmes and done a nice job and got a win over Bryan Station. I know they are not as good as Holmes but they were bigger than Holmes. Newport's shot was falling down there unlike last night.

 

St Henry tried to zone Holmes and got burnt for Nine 3's by 6 different Holmes players. Holmes can make the outside shot if teams try to zone them. That's why most coaches simply stick with man to man and try to throw match up zones at them from time to time to keep them off balance.

 

Also, Bryan Station isn't a bigger team than Holmes. They have more size down low with Adams (6'11), Barner (6'6), Evans (6'6), and Smothers (6'5) but other than that they are an average size team across the board. They have very small guards with them all being in the 5'11-6' range.

 

I think Bryan Station goes:

 

5'10 Waide, 6'0 Fain, 6'6 Evans, 6'6 Barner, 6'11 Adams

 

Holmes lineup last night:

 

6'3 Slusher, 6'5 R. Johnson, 6'5 J. Johnson, 6'6 Rice, 6'8 Pittman

 

Size isn't everything though. Look at Elliott Co last year. They had one kid over 6'2 in their starting lineup and they were one of the best teams in the state.

I was not just talking first five they have a 14 man roster and 10 kids are 6'1and bigger they have 5 kids 6'4 not sure about the rotation but over all they are a big team. From what I understand thay are kind of a rebuilding year with a couple transfers think one of them came from Mason County he was one of the better players that play for them.

The kid from Mason Co is Phil Barner. He was in and out of Mason Co's starting lineup last year, but usually was their 6th man.

 

6'6 Evans is a transfer from Mississippi.

Like I said before though, size isn't everything. At the high school level guard play is the most important aspect of being successful.

Bryan Station is starting off with a down year, but I think the team as a lot of potential and will get much better as the season goes on.
