Villa Madonna 50 Ludlow 15

Featured Replies

Villa moves to 4-0 with an easy win in it's second conference and first district win. Outstanding defense held Ludlow scoreless in the second quarter and to two points in the fourth quarter, while the scoring was pretty evenly spread betwen four of Villa's starters, Kiley Stoll, Kim Schroer, Chelsea Case and Amy Kreutzer.:dancingpa:dancingpa

Ludlow has been averaging 45 points per game before this game. Lot's of Villa blocked shots, stolen passes and tie ups killed possession after possession for Ludlow.

Stoll had 14 points and many of those came off of take aways. It looks like Ludlows dominance of this series has run it course.

Taking pictures must be a lonely job. I suspect that camera would work better if you pointed it at the players.

In 4 games this season Shield's Villa team has held opponents to an average of only 24 points. I am sure the road will get tougher but that is an outstanding stat.

Ludlow is definitely hurting without their point guard who went down early this season. She makes everything go in their offense. Good win Villa.

This is easily one of Villa's best teams ever. Well balanced scoring, great D and the ability to make threes.

Villa should be ranked a lot higher in N. KY.

Not another highlight for the Stamm reel!!!

50-15, not used to seeing Ludlow on the other side of this score. Could this be a prelude of scores to come or just a fluke??? Either way, is it possible that the lopsided scores of the past may come back to haunt Coach Stamm?? I guess time will tell:idunno:

It COULD be a thing to come the rest of the way. However, I highly doubt that. Everyone knew early in the year Ludlow was going to struggle getting things going without the height they had in the pass. Now they lost one of the better players in NKY to a knee injury. Don't you worry Stamm will get things going again. Give it time.

Also you make it sound as if Ludlow has run up the score in the passed. This is never something Stamm would do. He is a class act and his teams were simply that much better. He would pull most starters when his team was ahead. Look at some of the player he had in the good years:

Kassi Wofford- Great PG. Could've started at almost any NKY school

Julie Hardin- Long player taller than almost anyone on the floor

Caitlin Ottaway- Just as long as Hardin

Ashley Daughtry(sp?)- All-Time leading scorer for school.

Brook Jones- Exceptionally quick and could knoc down from range

Meghan Vohl- Came off the bench. Physical could start most schools as So.

U\I'm sure there were a few more I cannot think of right now. It wasn't Stamm running up the score they just had that much talent. Coach can't have the players come down and pass it to the defense. Besides when I played a team laying down was more embarrassing to me than just whipping my tail.

Sounds like that ax is still needing to be grinded.

As #5 said, losing your starting PG to a knee injury will take the wind out of your sails.

Should be a good game tonight against Silver Grove. We'll see.

Not at all. Just stating facts. Everyone will have their opinions and that is what this forum is for. I was at the All A game against NCC and on the Ludlow side of the stands last year and heard a very good number of complaining about NCC running up the score?? I think we all can agree that scores can stay somewhat respectable if coaches want them to be. You reference them playing Silver Grove tonight. I looked at the scores from last year, the first game was over a 60 point loss and the second game just over 20. Did Silver Grove get that much better no way!! I would have thought the score should have been the same, Silver Grove will not have the athletes to compete with the Ludlows of the world and I am sure everyone understands that, but some of your other A schools, ie: a Beechwood that have players that run in cycles, those may be schools that may look for a little repay of lopsided scores, but again time will tell.

I guess I am an old fashion person that puts too much emphasis on sportsmanship and maybe the game has changed.

Please explain to me how a team that has so much more talent is suppose to not win by a lopsided score? Do you want that team to stop pressing or playing their starters as soon as they are up 10 points? That is crazy if you say that. Even if a team is much more talented, anything can happen. However you will not find a case where they were still pressing late in games against those teams, or were still playing all their starters. In those games coach Stamm did what any coach would do in those situations. Was not pressing, just sitting back in a zone on defense. Would you have wanted him to tell his non starters if they got a steal, not to try to score? The name of the game is still basketball, its not fair even for your backups not to try to score. Lopsided scores are going to happen when one team is flat out better than the other, there is nothing else to say about that. As long as a team is not keeping their starters in all game, and not pressing and things like that, then there is nothing else they could do. So yes you saying these things definitely seems like you have an ax to grind. There is only so much you can do to prevent lopsided scores from happening when a team is so much better than the other. Just like this game I don't think Villa was trying to run up the score, they were just the better team. When a team commits something like 40 turnovers like Ludlow did, things like this happens.

I think most people knew that Ludlow was going to have a rebuilding year this year. That is not much of a surprise, so I would have hoped Villa could have won this game with a lot of talent there while Ludlow is having a rebuilding year.

Ludlow going into this year lost 4 of their top 6 players to graduation. Then in like only the third game of the year they lost their starting PG for the year due to an injury. So that is 5 of their top 6 players from last year now not playing this year. Losing their PG really hurt this team a lot, because she is the leader on the court, and now they are forced to play young inexperienced players at point. This year is definitely a rebuilding year, and will have some ups and definitely will have some downs. Coach Stamm will have this program back up again here soon.

I will have to disagree here. I was at a Bellevue game last year and Stamm was up by 34 points in the second half and still pressing!
