It was a very sloppy game because the refs were horrible for both teams all night. 65 free throws:ohbrother:, at one time there were 8 players on the court with 4 fouls each. I am so tired of going to a high school game to watch a good match-up like Giesler/Pike, only to have them both on the bench most of the first half in foul trouble. I don't go to watch the refs, let the players determine the outcome.

As far as the status of the game, I'd ask more of the coaches to teach defense. Solid defense will prevent 80% of the fouls you don't like.

I don't believe it's the ref's job to call fouls based on what he or she views as the quality of play. And I can also see where teams can't get into any flow with the whistle blowing every 5 seconds.

The officiating was absolutely ridiculous for both sides. There was no problem with either team's defense. The Ninth Region officiating is becoming a joke among the surrounding regions. When these teams go to other regions they get the crap beat out of them physically because they are expecting the whistle to blow because there was some contact. You have got to let them play with some physical content. When a game is determined by free throw count...something needs to be re-evaluated. It was a free throw contest last night not a basketball game with NCC being the winner.

The high school season starts like this every year because the kids are playing like they did all summer in AAU. Grabbing and holding gets called in the high school game, unlike AAU.

Pangallo has been lighting teams up lately.

 

24 against Boone and 27 against Dixie...very impressive.

 

He's like a waterbug on the floor with his quickness and excellent handle. It seems he has really improved his jumper this season with the 3 balls I see he is sticking to teams. I'm sure he is making his pops very proud. A younger brother with very good skills in the frosh class also.

He's genetically gifted as quickness goes, but Grant puts himself through the ringer every offseason w/ Mike Kiernan. He's not a small 5'6", he's put together. The kid has worked his tail off, and I'm glad to see that he's seeing the fruits of his labor.

When a team is in the double bonus 5 minutes into the start of each half the game is controlled by the refs. It was awful. I think both coaches should have went to the KHASS about these two!

For what? Did they not get a rule correct? Verbally abuse someone? If it's about the number of calls, which is all about judgement, what is the KHSAA suppose to do?

 

.....it's interesting to read those threads that talk about how many fouls official miss that make people mad and then others, like this, that want them "turned in" for calling too many.

^^I think everyone expects a happy medium....I would have been happy if they had missed a few.
