These are the Final Rankings done by BGP before the playoffs began. How close were they?

 

1. Central (Semi-Final Loss to Paducah Tilghman)

2. Somerset (Championship Loss to Paducah Tilghman)

3. Mason County (Second Round Loss to Pike County Central)

4. Belfry (Second Round Loss to Sehldon Clark)

5. Sheldon Clark (Semi-Final Loss to Somerset)

6. Breathitt County (Regional Championship Loss to Somerset)

7. Union County (Second Round Loss to Paducah Tilghman)

8. Henry County (Regional Championship Loss to Central)

9. Western Hills (Second Round Loss to Central)

10. Russell (First Round Loss to Sheldon Clark

Henry County and or Western Hills could have beaten both teams in the Finals, I think a healthy Central still Wins it all. East was very down this year, I don't know if Breathitt, Russel and Belfry Should be Higher than any of the teams that were listed, I honestly think the best two teams were at home, in Mason County and Central if not for injuries.

Final poll doesn't look so great - but in defense of the BGP pollsters, this was definitely the toughest class to handicap!!

 

Henry County and Western Hills should have been ranked higher, IMHO...

 

Somerset looks to have been about right.

 

PT was - obviously - undervalued, but let's be frank - the Blue Tornado's first half season was pretty bad. Can't blame the pollsters for that miss, really.

 

The championship might have been played when Henry County played Central in the regional championship game...but the Wildcats lost their star QB in that game, and Central was so banged up afterward with accumulated injuries... But - to be fair to Somerset and PT - that's part of football, and we all have had to live with BAD LUCK at times. The bottom line is that Somerset and PT were the two that persevered...

 

I thought Mason was over-rated all year, but I wish we could have seen the Royals at full-strength in the post-season to see just how good they really were. But...again...see my comments (above) in regards to Henry and Central. We've all been there. It's no fun, but it's life.

The way Tilghmans defense was playing at the end of the year, noone from the east would have won it easily. Central may have been banged up, but, in reality, they weren't near the team they've been the prior 2 yrs anyway. Also, PT was without 6 or 7 starters from the beginning of the yr as they were kicked off or quit the team, so, certainly there talent level was also depleted. After watching the game, it was hard for me to imagine Somerset being undefeated and knocking off SClark who knocked off Belfry and also beating Breathitt. The east side must have really, really had an off year. Also, I think PT would have handled Henry Co, had they gotten by Central. Too many athletes and speed for Henry Co to contend with. 3A was certainly down this year all the way around, but, PT was definately the best team at the end, without question.

No, PT survived, that's how they got there. If Henry doesn't lose their QB it's a no brainer. PT would have been way too small and HC is way too balanced. Would have loved to see that game!!!

Did you see Henry Co. play? Because I seen both teams and while PT was talented they were far from polished or disciplined. HC would have give them a go, but thats here nor there.
