Why is Murray so low when they were the only team to score the most points on FC in the playoffs. They took them to the wire look at the numbers yards and the other stats. Also the game was decided in the last 14.8 seconds .Why no love for Murray.

Again, BGP delivers the "Final Rankings" going into the last week of the season, these are from the conclusion of Week 10. We are looking at these rankings, from Week 10, and comparing them to how the season ended and comparing them.

This is JMO at the end of the Playoffs:

There is no reason CAL should be placed above HC, HC played DeSales tougher than both CAL did in the regular season and NCC in the playoffs. NCC was way overrated this year. JMO though.

Because these rankings were done before the playoffs began.

Murray played an incredibly weak schedule and it didnt help their arguement. However, their gameplan for the Falcons in the playoffs was spot on and if not for two sensational catches by Tre Powell for touchdowns, we may be talking about how the state title game between Murray and DeSales only took an hour to play because neither team threw a pass.

It's not good to get in the habit of comparing scores. Ballard Memorial hung 40 points on Murray but it doesn't make them a top 10 team in Class 2A.

When why did we wait until the championship to name them.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that these were the BGP rankings BEFORE the 2A playoffs started. The last game of the regular season was 30 OCT 09, the first game of the playoffs started on 6 NOV 09, the rankings in the first post of this thread came out between 30 OCT and 6 NOV 09.....hence the reason the thread title contains the words "in retrospect.". The information contained within the parenthesis is how that team ended their entire season, playoffs or not.

 

I think that they're pretty dead on actually; good rankings BGP crew!

 

The Scribe is right when he said that scores cannot be compared.......Ballard Memorial is a 1A team that hung 40 points on the team (Murray) that almost beat Fort Campbell.

I am Monroe Co. fan but after NO. 1 Fort Campbell it doew not really matter who is NO 2. Know Murray and Desales both had good teams to play with FC and Monroe played good game against FC too many turnovers and penalties to win game also Prestonburg gave Desales all they wanted so they had good team. After FC you can put Murray, Monroe, Desales, and Prestonburg in any order thar you want they are the top 4 after FC.
