Besides Lawrence Co., Coach Williams had served as head coach at Prestonsburg, Bourbon Co., Johnson Central, and Paintsville.

It became his trademark, but he didn't wear the flip-flops for "show". He had a very good reason. It always grated on me to read posts implying it was eccentricity on his part. Very few are as plain-spoken and straight-forward as was Chuke. He was the type that "you'd better not ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer" - but there was never personal malice, though sometimes his passion (complete with foul language and arm waving) would be misread as such.

 

One would never get lip service from Coach Williams. It's why he struggled in some of his more politically-charged HC positions.

 

 

It's good his death comes the night before the State Finals. He wouldn't want to miss the games. :thumb:

 

If Im not mistaken he also coached for a brief time at Sheldon Clark before Jim Matney came.

He got his start as a Head coach with Sheldon Clark '82-'83 but not 100% sure on that. Here is his record on when and where he coached at.

Like Ram stated, we knew it was coming but is still tough to hear. My prayers go out to the Willams family and friends along for the community of Louisa and the Lawerence County High School Bulldogs family.

I'm sorry to hear this. A playoff game in Lawrence County was always fun and he was a big reason why.

It is so sad but true that it sometimes takes the death of a coach to truly reveal what kind of coach he/she was and what type of true impact they had on the lives of their players. One can tell by the number of former players who take time to come and pay respects. I hope the lines were long for Coach Chuke.
