Just like in football, Madison Central had virtually no returning players and the Jr. and Sr. classes are pretty sad in talent for a 6A school....I would expect a long season

BEREA — In the frantic moments following his team’s historic 64-59 win over long-time nemesis Madison Central Tuesday, Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry received a rather unexpected gift.

 

“My cousin is a state trooper and he (grabbed the game ball) and brought it to me,” Buttry said. “So, I figure we will do something with it. We’ll just put it up in the locker room. It’s just symbolic I guess of us getting over that little hump.”

 

After years of heartbreak, frustration and more than a few lopsided losses, the roles were finally reversed in a long-standing rivalry.

Congrats Madison Southern.

I really didn't know if Southern could get over the mental hurdle but they did. It was a great game for both teams. However, I was very proud of how the Central team handled the loss and their ability to stay within five points given they have one returning senior. I don't know that it will be a long season as I expect them to only get better as they gain more experience. Personally, I don't think districts will be a repeat loss. If so, it won't be for the next five years afterwards.

I don't see it being a long season either, they have a pretty young team and I see some potential in their freshman guard #25
