November 30, 200916 yr I'm saying the votes with a guaranteed spot (Big 11, SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac 10) are going to do all they can to protect the $$$ as best as they can. That, to the core, is the flaw in the system, and from top to bottom is what prevents a playoff. It's a lot like breaking down who gets into the field of 64 in hoops and how they get seeded once you examine who is in the selection room that year... The cynic in my head whispers (well, shouts is more like it) that this is why the BCS is in its current incarnation. The mere fact that the term "BCS conferences" exists tells me what I need to know.
