I dont think they can beat Lincoln,West Jessamine, Wayne or maybe Southwestern. Mercer has already beat them and I think even Rock gives them fits. Maybe long year for the Raiders.

Why didn't McCreary invite some better teams to its home tourney? It's weak as hell, as usual, chock full of nearby teams.

Nearby teams bring fans. That is what keeps the tournament going. If they brought in teams from 2-3 hours away they wouldn't make enough at the gate to pay for referees. It looks like a decent field in my opinion.

I've not seen the schedule, who all is invited?

Ill bet McCreary is opposite bracket than Oldham and Wayne, lol. They better pad them stats, could be 1-5 or so going into those games. Maybe they will let Joe Waters take over next year, he is the better of the two coaches.

They have the usual nearby teams.

But they also have a team from Miami coming in that has three D1 players, and just graduated one to the CUSA last season. They'll probably be in the opposite bracket, facing McCreary for the title. McCreary will not stand a chance in that game.

What is your problem with McCreary? Why couldn't they beat Wayne, West, and Southwestern, when they beat them all last season and return 4 of their 5 starters.

McCreary won't have that pretty 25-28 win total, but I'd be willing to bet that they'll go farther in the tournament thatn Wayne, Lincoln, and Southwestern.

They struggled with Mercer last year, and we saw how that turned out. Mercer didn't even make the region tournament.

I'll take my chances.

I dont have anything against McCreary. I just have my opinion, like alot of others, think they underachieve every year. So you think Mercer is better than Wayne, Lincoln and Southwestern?

They could salt a few higher-profile teams in there -- sort of like how London does it with the Hoopin' tourney -- to set up quality matchups for the quarters and championship, yet still give the nearby teams a few games to help shore up gate.

Did they underachieve last season?

Why would any of the high profile teams travel to McCreary for a tournament? The best will head for the beach, Lex. Cath, King of the Bluegrass, The Gateway Classic, etc. I'd guess the McCreary tournament is kind of a tough sell.

Why do you say he is better? You sound like a disgruntled parent whose son never got to play as much as you thought he should. McCreary has a nice team. They will be right where they were last year when it's all said and done and if they can get the regional final down to the last couple of minutes like they did last year the outcome might just be different this time around.

Well can you tell me where each team is in the bracket. Jones makes the bracket, so publish the brackets and show me I am wrong.

When schools decide to host Christmas tournaments they usually have three goals: 1) make money 2) win their own tournament or at least win 2-3 games 3) avoid all the travel/expenses associated with going to play elsewhere

From the looks of what Coach Jones has done at McCreary he has ran his tournament to perfection and deserves a pat on the back rather than a hard time. Furthermore, McCreary Central finished runner-up in the 12th Region last year. A lot of other teams (bigger schools included) didn't fare nearly as well. Find another team to pick on.
