I guess I selected in the poll too soon. My contacts are daily wear only, so I have to drag out the specs for late-night.

I have been wearing glasses since the 4th grade, 20/500 in both eyes. Was one of the first people in the country to use extended wear lenses after a severe hard contact over wear that scratched both of my corneas. Quit wearing contacts after I started programming because they dried out constantly and it was easier just to wear my glasses.

I qualified for Lasiks, but never saw a need to cough up that kind of money at my age. I'll have cataracts soon enough, so I'll get them fixed then.

I had hard contacts when I was in HS, but they scratched up my eyes and I didn't wear them again for another decade until the technology advanced to where I could where soft contacts for my astigmatism.

I'm lucky in that I don't have astigmatism. That's why I qualified for Lasiks with such bad sight. Had I had any, they wouldn't have enough material to work with. At least, that is what I was told.

Extended wears were nice in my twenties. When you pass out drunk (or are sleeping over at some young lady's home :sssh:) it helps not to have to deal with the contacts. However, staring at computers, especially CRTs, 10-15 hours a day causes the eyes to dry out, and I would have to blink constantly to keep the screen from blurring. Regular soft lenses or extended wears, it didn't matter. So I went back to glasses full time.

Now my arms are getting too short. :D
