November 1, 200916 yr Georgia has had their back sides handed to them twice this year, and is off to the worst start during Richt's time at UGA. Compact a 4-4 start this season and a disappointing season last year, and I think you've got to start questioning whether or not it's time for a change in Athens. Thoughts?
November 1, 200916 yr It would be a sad commentary on college athletics if he is, indeed, on the hot seat.
November 1, 200916 yr Author It would be a sad commentary on college athletics if he is, indeed, on the hot seat. It's happened to better coaches with better results, Richt has had a great run at Georgia, but I think the Georgia fan base and the top dogs-pardon the pun-at the University thought they may have had better success by now. Maybe the expectations are too high, but this Georgia team is lost at this point. I don't know if they can even win 2 more games and get bowl eligible.

November 1, 200916 yr Tommy Tuberville, for starters. One SEC title... one BCS game. Nope, not more than Richt.
November 1, 200916 yr One SEC title... one BCS game. Nope, not more than Richt. 85-40 9-6 against top 10 teams 3-2 against top 5 teams. That's strong enough to include him in this discussion.

November 1, 200916 yr Richt is 85-23. Next... You seem to be missing the point of this discussion. Its not Richt v Tuberville. Both are shining examples of coaches who should not be on the hot seat or have been on the hot seat.
November 1, 200916 yr You seem to be missing the point of this discussion. Its not Richt v Tuberville. Both are shining examples of coaches who should not be on the hot seat or have been on the hot seat. I'm disputing the "better coaches with better results" point that was made.
November 1, 200916 yr I'm disputing the "better coaches with better results" point that was made. You can debate "better" but they're both examples. Has Richt had a 13-0 season? Does that make Tuberville better? Who knows? Immaterial.
November 1, 200916 yr Author Richt has never had an undefeated season, Tuberville has. And last year when Georgia started out #1 and finished 9-4, struggling to beat Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl was one of the worst coaching jobs ever. Any decent coach would have at least gotten to a BCS bowl....Next
November 1, 200916 yr You can debate "better" but they're both examples. Has Richt had a 13-0 season? Does that make Tuberville better? Who knows? Immaterial. Fact... Richt has a way better resume... fact. Same amount of wins and 17 more losses :idunno: I don't know how that can even be debated. I'm still waiting to see a "better coach that had better results."
