North Laurel just missed the playoffs but have shown drastic improvement this season. It is senior night at The Jungle.

 

Predictions for this one .....

I know that Coach Larkey and the Jaguars are disappointed, but they have shown vast improvement this season.

 

They are tied for the most points scored since the 2004 season and can break that tie with a big offensive output on Friday. They are vastly improved on defense, where the past 3 seasons the defense gave up 32 ppg (06/07/08) but have given up 25 ppg this year. This was done against a much tougher schedule than last year with a vastly improved district slate as well. The last time the Jaguar defense gave up less than 30 ppg was in 2005 at 22.4 ppg and 2004 at 22.3 ppg. Last year was the worst as they gave up 34 ppg. Coach Larkey and Coach Sams have done a great job in starting the rebuilding process and all signs point to a positive future for the Jags.

 

As far as the Generals, Coach Carter has had a tougher schedule to deal with, but also is still dealing with teaching kids the fundamentals from the ground up. The middle school program just started in the past 2 seasons and this fall was the first time they have ever had a little league football program in Jackson County. Coach Carter was the catalyst in getting this program started. I had the pleasure of seeing the Generals and they are vastly improved from last year. They play hard, do not quit, and are starting to learn the fundamentals of the game. Given time, Carter will build a winner in Jackson County.

I think Coach Chris has done a good job there at NL. They beat 2 teams we lost to in Knox and Pulaski. I actually got to see one of their games and talk to him. Same plays as always. Good to see he hasnt changed. Hate NL didnt make the playoffs. I wish they had so I would be able to go somewhere instead of Rowan. Too far to go.

Good luck NL. Coach Chris and staff has done a tremendous job this year. The team was exciting to watch and brought a lot of much needed enthusiasm to the fans.

Congrats to Chris on a good year and the start of getting that program turned around. Give him some time and the Jags will be contenders.
