Rich Gannon Goes "Donovan McNabb" Today

Featured Replies

He had a brain fart in the booth. He didn't just not know the rules like McNabb. Unbelievable some of the things people waste time during their lives to write about.

So the difference between Mcnabb's mind and Gannon's in this situation is what exactly? One just "forgot" and the other didn't know the rule?

You pretty much hit the nail on the head, are you a carpenter?

So how do we know that Gannon just "forgot" vs simply not knowing the rule?

Pretty amazing something you specialize in your whole life that you don't know the rules.

When watching the game when his partner brought it up he said something along the lines of o yeaf were in over time. Which is when Ian said he thought he was going McNabb on him which was hilarious.:thumb:

I watched the Bengals game and heard Gannon's comment when it happened. It was an honest mistake. He knows the rules. I was wondering why the Bengals would call a timeout with 7 seconds left, too.

So was I. Engle had one up on us all I think.

No. It still makes no sense to call a timeout with 7 ticks left.

What if it is (another) bad snap and we don't get to ever kick the ball? Then the Browns have 3 seconds (or so) to run one last play.

Just another case of clock mis-management by the Bengals under Marvin Lewis.

It wasn't 4th down when the Bengals called time out was it?

That's something that I never thought about.

No, it was 2nd down.

Regardless, you're not going to be able to botch a snap and then re-set for another FG in 7 seconds, so your point is moot. Or, more accurately stated, the point that I assume you're trying to make is moot.

If they were out of timeouts then yes you are correct. If not, then my point is not.

You get 2 timeouts in OT.

Cincinnati called their 1st timeout after Carson ran for the 1st down with just under a minute left. That's 1 of their 2 timeouts.

They called the 2nd timeout with 7 seconds left, right before they kicked the game-winning field goal. That is their 2nd, and last, timeout.
