Sorry :notworthy::lol: Wilson is a solid player, but he will have to pick up more of the scoring. I believe any of my top 5 teams could win the region. I still believe Clay Co. has the most talent when you look at the top 8 players on each team.

South is loaded at guard. Their depth is unreal. They will have the best JV team in the area. I don't know if Clontz will play down any but with Mitchell, Sears and Sanders they will have a lot of quality young kids. Michell and Sears are skilled athletic kids. I haven't heard much about Sanders other than he has decent skills. He could be at the wrong place at the wrong time with this many good ball players at South right now.

 

I would say South will have a goood JV team but not the best. Knox Central's Freshman last year took South's JV into two overtimes and could have beaten them at the freethrow line but fell short. Tanner Broughton never played in that game either. KC also has a freshman class that has played South within a couple of points each game last year as 8th graders. Kc's Freshman last year also won the 13th region tournament. South will be good but that is a huge statement considering the talent level in the 13th region. KC has alot of depth. KC has played alot of kids up on the varsity for the last couple of years. KC will be one to contend with for the next 3 or 4 years. Harlan County also had a good freshman team as well last year. North Laurel also had a good JV team.

I obviously grew up in Harlan as my name suggests, but haven't lived there in years. I've been a huge fan of HDE for years and actually still have my homepage set as the newspaper in Harlan. I have a family connection in Corbin coaching so i've started reading some Les articles too. I love to read the discussions on here and I appreciate all of the knowledge you guys bring. I don't always agree with everything you all say (99 percent with HDE) but I do enjoy it. Keep up the great work.

Isn't that the same top 10 as the Cats Pause except for Robbins and Wardrup instead of Hooker and Hogue.

Hogue had a great summer. He was scoring both inside and out. Robbins and Wardrup are both very good players, too.

 

I was torn on Barbourville, Lynn Camp, Pineville or Harlan for No. 10. All the Lynn Camp fans talked me into that one.

Who is the KC kid new at South??

My guess is...

Madison Johnson, Isaac Wilson, Aaron Manns, Josh Hopkins, Travis Smith

with Mathew Taylor, Luke Stewart, Brody Freeman, Hunter Sizemore and others coming off the bench. Of course, if Caleb Watkins were to have decided to play this year, he would be in the top 7 for sure. He will be greatly missed by his teammates this year for sure.

 

 

It is hard to say who will start before practice even starts. IF all the returning players are healthy and ready to go I would say Johnson, Wilson, Manns, Smith and Watkins. Taylor and Sizemore would be the first two off the bench with Hopkins, Freeman, Stewart and Jones being able to provide minutes as well. I would not be surprised to see Hoover be able to help the team with his athleticism as well. He could be a good on the ball defender. Coach P has several options. He can go big and pound the ball inside. Smith at Point, Manns, Hopkins, Johnson and Watkins or go small with Wilson, Freeman, Taylor, Stewart, Sizemore and press teams full court.

Guess he would have to decide what he wants to do. Is he getting that kind of interest from football schools? How many Division I football coaches attempt to get students to forego their last season of basketball? I know the Slusher kid at Auburn left at Christmas off his senior season and that has not seemed to merit much playing time thus far on the football field down in the Plains.
