I have to agree with futurecoach on this. Did Cooper get out-coached last night? I don't think so. Anyone can sit in the stands and question what is being called and who is calling what and why they did what they did, and no offense, but that is why us individuals are sitting in the stands and not coaching. There were reasons that things were being done defensively. Think about it, would you rather give up a hitch or a curl, or play your db's up tight on receivers that were faster than Cooper's DB's and give up long touchdowns? And offensively, why wouldn't you want Bradley to touch the ball 30 times a game if you want this team to be successful. Look at the young man's average per carry. I GUARANTEE it is over 8 yards. You have to take advantage of things like that. The reason that Cooper put 35 points on the board last night was because of that young man. Hats off too him, he ran hard. Another thing, how can you say that Bradley has fumble problems when he has ran the ball about 100 times this season and last night was his first fumble? Sure it came at a big time last night and hurt, but it seemed to me like the kids kind of let off the ignition after being up 35-14.

 

People have to find someone to blame this loss on, so naturally it is going to go on Coach Borchers shoulders, but IMO Coach Borchers had a great game plan and in the final minutes there was just not any execution.

 

Now, onto Ryle. Going to have to play a lot better next week.

Wow I am shocked to see this score I thought Cooper would run all over them. I am glad Lloyd proved me wrong.

 

Cooper did run all over them, had the momentum going into half and coming out of half, scored 2 times quick with about 3 minutes left in the first half, came out from halftime put a nice drive together and scored and then things went downhill. A couple injuries to key players that hurt and slowed them down, but these kids just have to learn to put teams away when they get up big. Can't let disciplined, well coached teams like Lloyd stay in ball games.

I didn't hear about any fumbles and haven't heard about any in the past few games, how many does he have? Who do you think on the Cooper lineup compares to Bradley's running ability? I bet he is one of the leaders in the state for yards. I wasn't at the game, so can't speak to decisions the coaches made last night, but we can all see that compared to last year Cooper has come a long way.

No offense, and I know that these teams in 6A are very talented...but I feel like Bradley will still get some decent yardage in these games, just my opinion of course, but a kid that runs like that is going to get his if you ask me. But that is any kid not just him.:thumb:

My son plays D, so not really the case. I see your veteran status and yield to your knowledge. I don't like the play calling all around ( O and D ).

We all have opinions and I respect yours.

I just see a number of kids busting their butts and I wish they got more playing time. I'd love to see more passing plays too. They have a lot of good WR's on the team too.

 

 

Trust me, I am 100% with you on throwing the ball more, but you have to establish a good ground game to open up your passing game. Right now, Cooper's passing game isn't near as good as anyone would like to see it, but it is improving. While the passing game struggles at some times, you have to go with what is consistent and has been working!

Without Bradley this team would be in trouble from week one. He did have two fumbles last night I believe but the passing has work to do on both ends. The QB had a five yard toss in the first quarter from his own 20 and over threw the WR and was picked off. That led to Lloyd's first TD. Number 83 made a couple of nice catches but then dropped a critical 3rd down play in the fourth that was right in his hands. He dropped 3 or 4 last week at Holmes. I heard a fan say if they threw it to him more he would have a better chance to catch them???? The defense is poor in pass coverage and the DB's do play, it seems, 10 yards plus off the ball and WR's are wide open all night. Conner's West is going to have a field day. But the fact is, this is a second year school that is a couple of years away from seriously contending. Most schools take more time than this to be good at all and they are much improved over last year and I'm not sure how many senior's they have that start so next year should be better than this one. I still see them going o'fer in District play but would like to see it under 30 point spread versus the 60 last year. Patience is right....

To me, if you line those teams up, 9 times out of 10 Cooper wins, IMO. This was just not Cooper's night, end of story. Continue to improve and move on!

You can't really brag about beating a 2nd year 6A team. But if you must go ahead. If these two teams play again next year, I don't see it being close, or does Lloyd have a majority of Juniors and sophomores also?

Lloyd will have a lot of work to do this off season to get the Juggs up and running. There are a few juniors, sophomores, and freshman in the mix. Next year could be a great year for the Juggs if they can come into a groove.

Great win for the Juggs, the game turned around when Cooper was first a goal and didn't get Bradley the ball one time. I know there were penalties but he was carving up the defense. If you watched that game anyone there would have given him the ball 4 straight times. Oh well, thats why you play em. Give the Juggs credit for not quitting, they played a great second half. Maybe the start of good things to come.

I was impressed with the athleticism of Cooper. For a second year team they looked great. You have alot to be proud of.

 

To a previous question regarding if Llloyd played any juniors or sophmores:

12 seniors, 9 juniors, 17 sophmores and 10 freshmen on the varsity team. We did not have enough kids to field a freshmen team this year. Some of the freshmen are seeing quality playing time actualy. Due to illness a freshmen started at qb one game already.
