Hamstring issues

Featured Replies

RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation. Check with your doctor, but ibuprofen or naproxyn will also help with any inflammation.

All my years of running track, playing footbal and baseball and never once had a hammy issue. Pulled the groin once and it wasn't too fun! Got to rest those muscles!

First game was last night against a really bad team. We play double headers. Usually an hour time limit on the first one.

However we played five innings in the first one and mercifully three in the second one.

Game 1 was 18-0.

Game 2 was 16-1 after 3.

My daughter fielded first in the first game for 1/2 inning.

Second game she played two innings and when she went to bat the coach asked her to take every pitch and let them strike her out so she wouldn't run and so the other team wouldn't be crushed further. She drew a walk both times at the plate. :idunno:

Ran the bases okay and looked better but it wasn't like she was pushed.

Since it's raining here today, practice will be indoors and the AAU tryouts scheduled today will be rescheduled which should help her get in better shape for them.

Thanks for all the help guys and I'll keep you updated at times in the year through this thread. :thumb:

Did anyone mention stretching real good before she runs, might talk with a specialist to get some good ideas....

:ohbrother:Whether she's being pushed or not she doesn't need to be playing! Your going to lead to bigger problem if you do not sit her now!

After bascially sitting out the first two weeks of the season, my daughter played Monday night and did well on her leg. She got an RBI in their win and ran well. She seems to have healed nicely.

On another note, she did have her try out for the AAU travel squad on Sunday and we got word today that she made it!

The coach called me to tell me so when she got home from School Ball practice she found that I had taped a copy of the Roster from the "Bombers" (travel team) website to her door and had penned in her name at the bottom. She freaked! :dancingpa

Really proud of her and her attitude and work ethic. :thumb:

Will tell you I found her a compression bandage that velcros on her thigh and it hasn't given her a problem before, during or after work outs or game.

Thanks guys for all your advice.:notworthy:
