I don't think the Jets will have the best D either. Maybe top 5...maybe.

If Kris Jenkins stays healthy, I should have added.

 

I like what they have on the field and on the sidelines with Rex Ryan. They should be really good.

 

It is a bold prediction, but I like it. NYJ D will be solid.

If the Packers actually go 12-4, as I predicted, he'll be one of the first names mentioned when people talk about MVP. The two go hand-in-hand.

I think that's a pretty good prediction, but with the Panthers in the South and Viks in the North.

 

I had a tough time between NO and Carolina...ultimately, defense was the deciding factor. The Panthers lost their stud DT (I can't say his name, much less spell it), while NO brought in Gregg Williams. I don't expect the Saints to turn into the steel curtain, but Williams has produced good defenses at almost every stop. I think the Saints defense will be much improved, and with their offense, that should be enough.

 

And, one more random prediction that I forgot to include...

You're most likley right, but there's nothing interesting about playing it safe and stating the obvious in your own personal prediction thread. I think the Jets have the potential to be that good.

 

1. The Head Coach - Ryan will utilize his RB's to protect Sanchez. They have two complementary backs in Jones and Washington and a strong offensive line. I expect them to be a run-heavy, ball-control team. That will help the defense.

 

2. The Head Coach - Ryan is a defensive coach. He'll bring an aggressive, attacking scheme and make this unit better.

 

3. They already played the 3-4, so they have the pieces to run that defense. The transition will be to Ryan's particular scheme, which brings me to...

 

4. Ryan brought three former Ravens with him who are projected to start, one on each level of the defense (DL - Marques Douglas, LB - Bart Scott, S - Jim Leonhard). Those guys should help a lot with the adjustment to Ryan's scheme.

 

5. The talent they have...Kris Jenkins is a dominating, run-stuffing tackle, which is a must. David Harris is an up-and-comer at inside linebacker to pair with Scott. Revis and Rhodes are studs in the secondary, and Lito Sheppard is a solid second corner.

 

The question is pass rush. Calvin Pace is solid, but he's out for a month. Can he get something out of Vernon Gholston? That's the key.

Aaron Rodgers is going to be a super star soon IMO. He's got what it takes.

 

And I agree with your pick of the Packers. They will bounce back and be a good team this year.

I like what I see from Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. They lost a lot of very close games last year. I think they actually out scored their opponents, but still had a losing record.

Sheppard definitely isn't as good as he used to be, but I think he's got a little left in the tank.

 

And, I agree about Gholston. But, perhaps Ryan can find a way to get some pass rush production out of him in specialized role. Who knows? I don't expect him to become a versatile defender who does it all...rush the passer, play the run, drop in coverage. But, if he can develop into a serious pressure man, it would help. It's possible. Of course, Calvin Pace will be back at some point. They need someone to step up until then.

They've looked unbelievable through two weeks. Two things...1. I thought it would take them a little time to hit their stride and 2. I'm not sure I thought they'd be that good.

 

But, it's early. Two games is hardly enough to judge.
