Trimble County 48 Atherton 0

Featured Replies

Thats a big win. Might have been more of a blow out than people expected.

Bracken County beat Atherton 49-6 in a scrimmage, so Atherton must really be down this season. How many players do they dress?

The Raiders scored on all six opening possessions and blocked a punt and returned it for a TD, all in the first half. The second half saw a running clock and mostly JV players on the field.

Senior Michael Edens had 209 combined yards, four TDs, kicked 6/7 PATs, and made several key tackles on defense (the Rebels were held to 15 rushing yards for the game and only 42 total). I think someone said that they saw Edens driving the bus home, too. :D

Seriously, there is a huge list of contributors for the Raiders in this game. First, what a great first varsity showing by QB Jordan Blanton. He commanded the offense very well. Junior Ryan Durrett picked a blocked punt and ran it in for a TD, his first for a varsity game. First year player Dylan Perry picked off a Rebel pass and ran it for 30+ yards. Experienced players such as seniors Blake Renfro and junior Brody Newby also had nice TDs.

On the defensive side of the ball, cousins Kyle Law and Mark law were HUGE contributors, not only having multiple tackles, many for a loss and QB sacks, but the definitive method by which they MADE each tackle was impressive. First year player Zach Adair was also worthy of mentioning.

Last, but certainly not least, for those of you that doubted Coach Chris Collins...well, you might want to rethink that decision. Coach Collins is showing that he is certainly capable. If you didn't know him before, than you might want to keep your eyes on the Raiders this year and in those to come. Collins has nearly 40 players out for the Raiders, is working closely with younger programs in the county and has the respect and buy in from his players. No doubt that there will be rough roads to travel (none tougher than district powerhouse Frankfort Panthers), but look for good things this year from Collins and his Raiders.

One of the problems that need to be addressed for the Raiders is too many fumbles. Hopefully, it was just some pregame jitters and will correct itself.

The Raiders have the week off next week, before their home opener against the Henry Co Wildcats. The Wildcats dominated the Raiders last year at HC, but this is a new season, so we'll just see what this year holds in store.

Great start for Trimble County! Hope to see them get even better week in and week out!

Good luck Raiders!

Thanks for the update. Congrats to the Raiders.

Collins has to be smart he got out of Atherton.
