Clay County seems to have adjusted to the post Zach Lewis era nicely. That said I didn't understand why instead of taking a knee they chose to score another touchdown when they had a first and goal up 42-0 with less than a minute to go--and then go for 2. Is there bad blood between the teams or something? But whatever, nice start for the Tigers.

 

May have waited one play too late to tell the JV guys to get a knee. It's hard to keep a bunch of freshman out of the end zone when they're close enough to smell it. Could be some bad blood too. I remember LC ringing up their 51st point with less than a minute to go at Clay about 4 or 5 years ago.

Not a big difference between 42-0 and 48-0, agree freshman really want six when they get a chance to play. Going for two might be a bit much, better to work on kicking game.

Both benches were cleared out and on the field. Why begrudge the young guys a chance to score. We had a chance and fumbled it away. Only ourselves to blame. Our young guys would have tried to score in the same situation. If the JV is out there on a friday night, if they youngsters can play, let them play. I don't care if it's 74-6. Your guys are out there with the opportunity to stop them. If you don't, you don't. They practice and wait behind the varsity guys for their chance.

I understand it was early and both team's JV teams were in the game. I guess I questioned the going for 2 more than the touchdown. Impressive opener for Clay. They've had some strong middle school teams the last few years and this offense definately seems to suit their players much better than the spread would have. They'll be an interesting team to watch the next couple of years.

Glad to see CC back to running the football.
