It seems like, based on theoldguys posts, that CovCath is totally and all the way back already. So much for the thoughts that the Birds will roll over the Colonels. Sounds like it will be a good game.

Highlands will likely have their way. CovCath has a better attitude being led by a better coach, but they will struggle. Their defense will get run over by Highlands running game, and that will only make their passing game that much better. The offense looked to be okay, but they'll only go as far as Erpenbecks legs carry him, which against a better defense than HC I don't know if it will be as far as what we witnessed. They are definitely running the right offense for him though. He needs to be careful...he tries to get a little fancy at times and could get hurt that way. (trying to run into defenders etc.). I didn't see a RB who is really ready to be the go to...so we'll see.

Hey there Leatherneck! We hope to be getting some emails from you again this year on the air. I would agree with Oscar that using the typical comparisons to Highlands may be a bit unfair this year considering that the Bluebirds are in the discussion as the #1 team in the entire state. Successes are not always going to be measured in wins this year in Park Hills. There is an excitment in town that's been missed. I like what these guys are doing and I like the attitudes from top to bottom. I've also heard rumors that there is a commitment from the student body to show up in force this year no matter what. That is also progress. I don't expect 55-0 at halftime this year. I do expect this team to improve every week and by week 12, who knows. It's going to be fun. The best of luck to your birds and may they have a healthy season and they need a box of tissues while leaving Park Hills!

BTW I failed to mention that four of the starting eleven on the CovCath "D" were out with injuries and the one player that the Colonels knew for certain was a stud, Michael Robinson is out for the season. If Robinson were able to play this season you would have heard a lot of Erpenbeck to Robinson for SIX......

Did he participate with the frosh yesterday? I thought I only saw one JV qb.

 

He did play with the Freshman and did very well.
