5 Things You'd Lose Under Health Care Reform

Featured Replies

If you read the fine print in the Congressional plans, you'll find that a lot of cherished aspects of the current system would disappear.

Count me in as strongly opposed to this reform. I guess this would be considered a scare tactic by the White House.

Unfortunately when the bill is written by lawmakers who are funded by insurance companies you get a bill that is not really FOR the people.

Any bill that takes power away from the free market and gives it to politicians is not FOR the people.

I have not seen what the Republicans want to propose but they are powerless to stop this.

Yet many are trying to point the blame at them for using scare tactics etc...it is the Dems themselves stopping this particularly the Bluedog caucus.

You're naive if you think that the "free market" is in place today.

I'll disagree on them being powerless. They've driven the news on this.

90% of the soundbites you hear about this reform are the Rs. John Boehner has had more face time in the last 6 months than his previous decades in Congress.

Add in 2010 elections and the fear that pols have and it will be a challenge to get anything substantive passed.

BTW good to see TX Gov Perry saying he will have TX secede from the healthcare reform package. Says its a classic case where such an important issue as healthcare should be handled by the state.

Of course, the 25% of reported Texans who do not have health insurance may disagree. 9 years in office and they are the worst in the country at having its citizens insured.

Unfortunately when the bill is written by a bunch of leftists it is NOT for the people.

Compared to what we lose with the current system, I'll take the reform.

And just who is trying to destroy what is remaining of the free market?

We have the best health care in the world. Funny how many people want to give it up.

And just who is trying to destroy what is remaining of the free market?

Maybe we have different definitions of "free market."

Policy written by the healthcare folks doesn't meet my definition.

Its the ugly part of the grand experiment.

Lets say me and 5 obese guys are running a race. I win. I'm the "best."

You putting me in the Olympics?

And what good does that do you if you don't have access to it or it bankrupts you?

I have access and it doesn't bankrupt me
