July 14, 200917 yr I have searched on MLB and ESPN to look for a video to link to of Erin Andrews interviewing Josh Hamilton but not surprisingly I cannot find it. But she asked him what was his biggest memory from last year's HR derby and in great Christian fashion, he replied, "The opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ to everyone I met last year at the All-Star game." She seemed to be dumbfounded with his answer, no followup question and quickly moved on to the next subject. What a great witness in front of millions. If anyone can find a link to the video, I would greatly appreciate it.

July 15, 200917 yr In some ways he is, but while I believe to some extent it is an act, when you look at what he has gone through, you can see some of the sincerity as well. Considering how he was when he was drafted, I think we'd all know if his demons resurfaced. I'm not the biggest Christian you will ever run into, but I'd much rather see this version of Josh Hamilton compared to the one that was drafted. He seems to be doing pretty well.

And I hate how people act like his story is one of heroism when every negative thing in his life, he brought upon himself. He overcame his mistakes. Great for him, but hero? No. Then you look at someone like Jon Lester who beat something like cancer who gets maybe 1/100 of the attention, and it makes me not very fond of Hamilton.

He only plays once every 5 days and he isn't even the best pitcher on his team. It's only natural for an everyday player to get more pub than a pitcher. It's not Hamilton's fault that he may or may not get more pub than Lester.

July 15, 200917 yr If he is being a witness for Christ and is sincere I'm all for it. Absolutely... Its a shame more people in today's world don't give thanks to God for their accomplishments. However, is there anything worse than playing off God to get good reviews? Not saying he is doing this, but just saying...

Actually, this thread is the first I have heard about Hamilton all year. You brought up the fact that he gets more pub than Lester. Honestly, I doubt any pro athlete's onscreen personality matches their off screen personality.

Good for him for using his stage IMO. If he's fake then that's for God to judge IMO. With a lot of kids watching I'm glad somebody is trying to use their stage in a positive way. Could be somebody like Lessner that kids are watching....
