Watkins receives first offer

Featured Replies

Caleb Watkins of Corbin received an offer on Thursday, June 18th from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. This is a private NCAA Div 1-AA school who have strong academics and a great football program.

Congrats to Caleb. I think this is the first of many more to come for #42.

I think the one he is waiting for could come with patience. He's blown them away for two years from what I hear at their camp. Plus it'd just be an hour North of Corbin.

I don't know Mr. Watkins, but he must be a very intelligent young man to get into Wofford College. I'm sure he will draw interest from the Ivy League schools in time. Congrats to him!!!

I would love to see him there. But Wofford is a GREAT school. I would have a hard time turning that down unless he is truly waiting for an offer from where ever he has his heart set on playing.

He has heard from all the Ivy League schools. Unfortunately, they do not have athletic scholarships and even with academic money they are pricey, and far away.

See post in unsigned d1 players. In addition, he may have a chance to play earlier at Wofford than at some of the bigger schools. Bobby Gibbs at Whitley would be a good resource for Caleb if he is seriously considering the terriers. Gibbs could give him some insight into that program from a player's perspective. Coach Ayers is a class act and Wofford has top notch facilities.
