The difference between Coach Fookes and some other coaches is that althouugh her expectations are high for hard work and dedication and it's her system that you will follow, is that she always shows compassion and care for her players. That's how she gets her girls to play hard for her. If you show you care about them as a person and other things (school, family) in their life, they will buy into your system and play hard for you. In return she works extremely hard to get her players scholarships.

Sounds like a great approach for a fresh start to me!

No irony here.

Good Luck Sydney!

Do ya think perhaps this is the same reason for the success at SK these past 3-4 years? besides finally having some talent :)

Yes, you are correct, it doesn't hurt to have the talent these two schools have had. On the other hand no one knows the heart in a player except the player. There comes a time when......... :idunno:

I agree with you Crunch-time. Nell is just a darn good coach and some people just can't admit that. She may not save the world, but she wins games,500+ right.:notworthy: You know the saying "Don't hate the player/coach.....hate the game"!

Sydney is a tremendous player and a better young lady. She is about to enter a world she is not prepared for right now and I hope she can quickly adjust. Nell will be in her face both on the floor and in the classroom. If Sydney is mentally prepared then the sky is the limit for this young lady both in HS and at the next level. If she has a difficult time adjusting it will be very very hard for her. After 30yrs, Nell has seen it all so she will be as tough as necessary AND will show the compassion that's necessary. The rest is up to Ms Moss to do what's necessary to reach her full potential.

Has she even been approved to play at Boone? Some may be putting the cart before the horse.

Don't hate Nell at all, just think she gets more credit than deserved when compared to other 9th Region/NKY Boy and Girl Varsity Basketball Coaches. You must admit that Boone has had an interesting rise in the number of talented transfers that came in the past few years - talented girls from Highlands, Holy Cross, and now the Moss girl to name a few. It's not like they left bad programs or coaches to go to Boone. And no offense to Boone, but academically there are other schools to transfer to, even in the same county (Ryle specifically) that have good basketball programs and higher test scores. I just wonder why Boone? Is it Nell? Or is it other reasons?:notworthy:

It is ALL up to the young lady now, if she gets to play this year or the following year isn't the point. "From frying pan (2-3 previous schools and coaches) into the fire." It will be Nell's way!

I'd guess Boone because of Nell and it's academics. Unfortunately test scores on avg. may be lower because of some lower income families with tough family struggles and lack of home support but academically Boone has the most teachers with advanced degrees and more academic scholarships given than any other Boone County High School. The teaching experience and programs are there to be had if the students want to achieve them.

I'm in agreement. This is probably exactly why she chose Boone County.

"...don't let the green grass fool ya..." Old Marine Corps cadence count.
