I didn't mean to call the cop "stupid" I just get riled up over tickets and what not. I know some are just and others are unjust.

Of course, I never blame the cop if/when I get a ticket, but sometimes they are just crazy.

Did you show them the bumper that got torn off? Why didn't you call someone when it happened? And isn't this what insurance is for?

 

 

If you are familiar with West Virginia then you will know that I64 is always under construction, I was in the pass lane-attempting to pass-the shoulder to my left was closed and the jerk I was trying to pass sped up as the Tire tread came into view, so the shoulder on the left is out, the right lane is out so I was stuck. And it happened about 100 feet from an exit, the shoulder's closed, so I stopped off the exit at a gas station. I though I just had a flat tire, I get out and realize I have no bumper. There was actually a police officer at the gas station and I asked him what I should do, he said I didn't strike anything or anyone so there wasn't anything to report. He did advise to go back and see if I could retrieve the license plate and I did. A courtesy patrol worker was already at the scene so I thought that he had found my bumper, but he hadn't he had found several pieces of it and I'm not making this up, we could not find that God forsaken license plate anywhere we searched for 20 minutes. Then I did call Progressive and filed a claim.

 

The officer that pulled me over wasn't rude, but he wasn't nice, I think he thought I was being a smart aleck when told him that my bumper was in about 10,000 pieces back in West Virginia, but I really wasn't.

 

And, to add insult to injury, I took the car in today to get appraised and apparently when I was hit by a drunk driver who ran last fall, the car had sustained frame damage that the auto repair shop did not address, they simply put a new bumper on. So I have that to look forward too, as well as the new bumper, a new grill in the front and possibly a new air conditioning system, all estimated to cost around 6-7K, which I only have to pay $1,500 of, but my insurance will go up even more than it already is and I will be without transportation for roughly 2 weeks. I am really thinking about selling it-a friend offered me $14,000 for it as is-and just buy something that is cheaper for my insurance; because as much as I love this car, I've had 3 accidents-none of which were my fault-in 1 year and 9 days of owning it, but I think it is just bad luck.

 

If anyone is interested in looking into the vehicle if my friend pulls out, PM and I will send you some information and pictures.

Take the proof of the bumper that fell off and show it to the county attorney when your court date is, they will dismiss the charge and the insurance will cover the bumper, very simple solution. Good Luck.

I already had the ticket thrown out, my best friend's cousin works in the county clerk's office and I explained it to her and she had it taken care of.
