Newport Central Catholic 11 Bellevue 6

From where I was standing, which was right behind the plate, the pitch was on the outside corner. I remember being amazed that a 16 year old young man could have the strength and bat speed to hit a fastball on the outside black, out of the park in left field. In fact, it was more toward left-center than anything. What a true talent! I really enjoyed watching him play. The play he made at SS was ignorant! It's a shame Bellevue and Newcath had to play in the first round. I would like to have seen Bellevue in the Regional Tournament.

Congrats to Bellevue on a great season, and continued success to Newcath.

Agree on the play at short it was sick!!!!! HR was a blast indeed. Bellevue does deserve to be in the regional tourney. Don't understand the seeding vs drawiing situation. It hurt Bellevue for sure. If the tigers are on the other bracket they play Monday(IMO)!

Can't have it both ways. You either seed for all of the sports or you don't seed at all.

Mexitucky that is not the KHSAA rule. Each time at each district draw that sport votes to seed or not seed. I will try to find it in the KHSAA by laws.

However....since the administration (not the coaches) decides the vote it usually runs that way.....but it does not have to.

Right, Highlands and NCC vote to seed. Dayton and Bellevue vote to draw. Newport is usually the "swing" vote, and they always vote to draw.

Bellevue has had a good year but they are not the clear #2 in that district.

Isn't it funny how the 1 bad pitch a pitcher throws is always to the best hitter? ;)

Your right, they are not the "clear" #2, but most people would say they are the #2 IMO

Why?

Didn't HHS beat them with Sainola pitching against one of their better pitchers?

Highlands beat them earlier in the year with a walk-off home run by Highlands, when Bellevue had a 2 or 3 run lead in the 6th. I believe Bellevue's "#3" pitcher pitched that game as well. Then Bellevue beat them later in the season with a score of 10-8 I believe. Not saying Bellevue is the clear-cut #2, just stating why some people would believe that they are :thumb:
