Corbin limps into this game having lost 6 of their last 7 games while Whitley has won 13 of their last 18, with one of those losses being a very competitive game against #3 ranked Tates Creek on Friday. Clifford should be on the mound for Whitley after pretty much shutting down Tates Creek the innings he pitched in his last outing. Anyone know who is pitching for Corbin? I would guess that freshman Trace Vorbeck or senior Logan Matlock will get the call for the Hounds.

I hate to pick against Corbin, but with Clifford on the mound for the Colonels, they will be hard to beat today.

I think it will Vorbeck IMO too.

Corbin wins because of coaching and defense.

Their defense is what scares me. Who will play 1B for Corbin with Hendrickson out hurt again and is Salmons back from the DL?

Ben Jones, and yes Salmons is back from the DL!

Whitley wins because of coaching and pitching.:ohbrother:

Corbin has been averaging 8 runs a game, and knocking the cover off the ball...but I guess like everybody always says "Defense wins Championships".:thumb:

In case everyone has forgotten, Ledington/Whitley has lost 4 of their last 6 and Corbin has lost 6 of their last 7. Neither team is great and I think it is safe to say that whoever wins this game, will be the runner-up to SL.

Losing 6 of the last 7 they must be hitting a coverless ball right at people and making a ton of errors themselves.

Pretty sure errors will cost you more runs than not hitting the ball!

I agree that the winner of this game will more than likely be the runnerup to South Laurel. South earned the #1 seed and getting to save their #1 and #2 pitchers is the reason team's fight for that #1 seed. The Corbin/Whitley game will probably not see either team trying to save anyone. They both have to pitch their best available to advance.

Funny that you don't mention the Corbin coach when mentioning Corbin's last 7 games, but mention Whitley's when mentioning their last 6 games. :sssh:

Either way, I do believe that the winner is facing one of the region favorites in South Laurel and has a tough row to hoe.
